With the arrival of my son from Guatemala in 2002, I began to design cards for his adoption announcement, christening and birthdays. My friends and family loved my designs and started ordering invitations and calling cards. Thus, Piccolino Designs was born.
I am a native of Puerto Rico. I have lived in various US states and have traveled extensively throughout Europe. I speak English, Spanish and French and can communicate in Italian too.
After graduating from college at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, I worked for international related industries, such a freight forwarding and global telecommunications research. This is where my card creations started—making quick birthday cards for co-workers.
A while back, I changed careers and pursued a degree in Graphic Design, concentrating in illustration. My motto is Ars atrium conservatrix: The art that conserves all arts: printing.
As a freelance graphic designer, I have created the logo for Atelier Pilates studio in Boston, MA, Casentric in Cleveland, OH and business card/logos for entrepreneurs locally and in Puerto Rico. For card illustration, I have created custom invitations and stationery taking into consideration the client’s interests, facial features and even drawing the party outfit.
I am a member and a former Illustrator Coordinator (2006-2008) for SCBWI (Society of Children's Books Writers & Illustrators) for the Northern Ohio/Cleveland area and a member of NOIS (Northern Ohio Illustrators Society). I am also a substitute teacher for pre-school and early grades.
My three product lines are: Tweet&Flora, greeting cards featuring little birds; a little Puerto Rican parrot called Pingquik, cards & apparel; and Piccolinos, personalized invitations and stationery.
